The Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka and Finance PLC (MBSL), recently relocated its Metropolitan Branch to a new Business premises at No. 390/A, Kaduwela Road, Malabe, with the objective of providing an efficient service with modern facilities to their customers who visit them to obtain financial facilities. The Chief Guest of this ceremony, held under the guidance of MBSL, Chairman, Dr. Sujeewa Lokuhewa, was the Hon. Minister of Public Enterprise and Kandy Development Lakshman Kiriella.

mbsl malabe 2Speaking at the ceremony, MBSL Chairman Dr. Sujeewa Lokuhewa said “Malabe is a fast-developing city, considered to be the centre of information technology and higher education. It is also the entrance to the Southern Expressway. Because of these factors, the City of Malabe has developed greatly during the past few years. The financial requirements of the general public and the business community increase in relation to this development. As a premier financial institution of Sri Lanka our responsibility is fulfilling those increasing financial requirements efficiently. As such, we moved to these new premises to fulfill that responsibility in such a way to satisfy our customers”. He further said that the new location will provide many facilities to the customers with easy access via public transport, adequate parking space and superior customer service of MBSL.

Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka and Finance PLC, established in 1982, became public company listed in the Colombo Stock Exchange in 1991. From 2015, it was registered as a licensed finance company under the Board of Finance of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka conforming to the Finance Business Act, No. 42 of 2011 as Merchant Bank of Sri Lanka and Finance PLC. At present, it is providing several financial services to its customers such as leasing facilities, financial facilities for small and medium scale industries, financial facilities for business enterprises, corporate advisory services, corporate registry services, stock market activities and fixed deposits, savings deposits, children’s savings deposits and pawning services as a very successful pioneering financial institution in the investment and merchant banking field of Sri Lanka. Its largest shareholder, the Bank of Ceylon is holding a strategic stake of 74%. MBSL has forty eight (48) branches and business centers located throughout the Island.
